Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Quran Mentor collects when you use the Quran Mentor mobile application and the related web experience at quranmentor.ai, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We aim to keep this policy short, plain-spoken, and accurate.
1. Who we are
- App name
- Quran Mentor
- Provider
- Quran Mentor (the “Service”, “we”, “us”).
- Privacy contact
- privacy@quranmentor.ai
If you have any questions about this policy, your data, or how to delete it, write to us at the address above and we will respond.
2. What data we collect
We only collect what we need to make Quran Mentor work and to keep your account secure. Specifically:
Account
Email address, display name, hashed password (we never store your password in the clear), authentication tokens, language and theme preferences.
App activity
Verses you save or bookmark, reading and listening progress, saved reflections, chat history with the AI mentor, daily challenge progress.
Microphone and audio
When you actively start a voice feature (Voice Chat, Live Mentor, voice search), we record your microphone input only for the duration of that feature in order to produce a transcript and a response. See “Microphone and audio data” below for the full detail.
Device and technical
Device model, operating system version, app version, language, timezone, IP address, crash reports, and basic diagnostic logs needed to keep the service reliable.
Optional analytics
Aggregated, non-identifying usage events (for example: “a verse was bookmarked”) used to improve the product. You can disable analytics at any time from Settings → Privacy.
3. Why we collect it
To provide the service
sign you in, sync your bookmarks and reflections across devices, run the AI mentor, and play recitations.
To keep your account safe
detect abuse, throttle suspicious sign-in attempts, and protect against unauthorized access.
To improve the app
fix crashes, find slow screens, and prioritize features that are actually useful.
To comply with the law
when we are legally required to retain or disclose information.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to anyone.
4. Microphone and audio data
Quran Mentor may request microphone access to let you use voice-based features such as speech input and Live Mentor interactions. Audio is processed only to provide these features. We do not use microphone access in the background.
In more detail:
When the microphone is on
only while you have actively started a voice feature in the app and the in-app indicator is visible. Closing the screen, ending the session, or backgrounding the app stops the capture.
What happens to the audio
the audio stream is sent over an encrypted connection to our backend, which forwards it to a third-party speech and AI provider (currently Google’s Gemini Live API) for transcription and to generate the spoken or written response. The audio is processed only to fulfill the voice request you made.
Storage
we do not retain raw audio recordings beyond the lifetime of the active session. The transcript of what was said may be stored as part of your chat history so that you can read it later; you can delete that history at any time.
Sharing
we do not sell audio data. We do not share audio data with anyone other than the speech and AI provider described above, and only to the extent needed to provide the feature you requested.
Background use
the microphone is never accessed when the app is in the background or when no voice feature is active.
5. Third-party processors
To run the service we share the minimum necessary data with the following providers, each acting as a processor on our behalf:
Google (Gemini API and Gemini Live API)
generates AI mentor responses and transcribes voice input. Audio and chat content are sent to Google for the duration of a request.
SMTP email provider
delivers transactional emails such as account verification and password reset.
Cloud hosting and storage providers
host the application servers and the encrypted database.
These providers are bound by their own privacy and security commitments and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
6. Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can:
Export your data
at any time from Settings → Privacy → Export all my data. We will email you a JSON copy.
Delete your account and all associated data
from Settings → Privacy → Delete all my data. This is permanent and cannot be undone.
Email us
to request export or deletion if you cannot access the in-app controls.
Backups containing your data may persist for up to 30 days after deletion before being permanently overwritten.
7. Children
Quran Mentor is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, restricted database access, and routine security review. No system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, but we treat your data as we would want our own treated.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for optional processing such as analytics.
